The AP

That is journalism jargon for The Associated Press. I think most student journalists, especially in New York, regard The New York Times as the pinnacle of good journalism. A standard for the nation. And they generally are. But The AP is above that. I mean, that's where our writing rules come from: AP style! The AP is a standard for all the nations. So that's the journalism geek in me getting excited over working there, if only for something as menial as vote entry (read: data entry) on election nights. It's not that exciting, but the coordinator is a good networking connection, and she likes me. So there's that. Anyway, when I was there, I discovered an awesome view of the Hudson train yards, which I didn't even know existed. But apparently it's where some trains go to take naps and rejuvenate, or something, on the west side. I wasn't able to get any pictures, but here is the AP building (which also houses a handful of other companies), at 33rd Street and 10th Avenue.



I was also saddened to learn of Maurice Sendak's death today. In memoriam:
