Monday I'm grateful for...

So today I feel like I found more things to be grateful for, but I attribute that to the fact that I was aware and noticing them more readily.

To start, I am thankful for helpful employers. And by that I mean at my internship. The art director for Super Science stopped me today and told me that he'd put together a nice PDF package of my clips, and then he introduced me to the other art director who said she would be happy to make me a cover page for a portfolio. All unsolicited! I am really enjoying my time at Scholastic, but I always assume that nobody really cares what or how I'm doing as a college intern (except those who expect assignments from me).

I also have a hard time with the idea that professionalism can be tempered with friendliness. I am working on that though — I say good morning and good night to the guy who sits nearest me (which is still like four cubicles away) because I realized that avoiding even making eye contact made me appear rude. And I'm not rude. So we're cool. But I don't know his name.

I am also grateful for the fresh smell of clean laundry! But more importantly for fresh, clean laundry! I sent it out for the first time, and it might be kind of awesome. It's only a dollar a pound and they bring it back folded, with all the socks matched, up all the stairs, and it smells great. Pretty good deal.

I am also grateful for the Scholastic Christmas tree they set up in the lobby! 'Tis the season! I was so happy when I walked in and saw it this morning. And it's really cool, it's decorated with characters from kids' books, kind of like Nana does with her Disney tree. I want a tree like that!

I guess that's enough for tonight. I'm sure I'll increasingly notice more throughout the week. That's the idea, right?
