Evita

So my friend was going to get us “Death of a Salesman” tickets, with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but the line was crazy, so he got tickets for “Evita” instead. I didn’t know what it was about, but I knew that Ricky Martin was in it, and that was good enough for me. (Just kidding. He was in it, but I didn’t know that until after the tickets were bought.) I was also unfamiliar with the story, as I have never seen the film version with Madonna. Turns out it’s the story of the Argentinean president’s wife, Eva Perón, and how she got there. I think that’s an interesting concept for a Broadway play, and it moved fast, spanning the course of 20 years or something like that. But I didn’t like the lead’s voice, and I thought there were some holes in the story. It was in the Marquis Theater though, which was cool. Now I’ve stayed at the hotel and seen a play there. But overall, I would not recommend Evita.
