Ashley and I went to see a play in a cemetery. And it wasn’t even Halloween. It was set in Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, which is huge. There is something like 500,000 people buried there.

We went after church, and they put us on a trolley to be dropped off in the middle of the cemetery where it would be performed. It was called “The Spoon River Project” and it was based on the book “The Spoon River Anthology” by Edgar Lee Masters. There were about a dozen players who each had about four different parts from the book. They took turns reciting these small vignettes of fictional people buried in this fictional town. It was quite interesting, and made me want to read the book. What an experience. Only in New York. On the way back to the subway, we passed a headstone shop we hadn’t noticed before.
