I love

I still love New York. It amazes me. There are so many small things that are either quintessentially New York or could only happen in New York. [Not to say this stuff absolutely couldn't happen anywhere else, but I'm not anywhere else. I'm here. In New York City. Still.]
Monday night we went to a free comedy show hosted by one of the girls in our ward. She put it all together, lined up the comedians and hosted. It was packed, there definitely weren’t enough seats for everyone, and SO MUCH of the audience was LDS. There were a ton of people there to support her. [PS this is the same girl that I decided was one of my heroes after I met her.] After the show we went to ESPN Zone in Times Square for one last hurrah [apparently they’re all closing, except the one at D-land. Of course]. So that was a good time.
I love that there are random art statues in the very small “parks” that dot the city.
I love that there is a Mister Softee ice cream truck, or some variation of it, on practically every corner now that it’s summer.
I love that there’s some traffic on a Wednesday at noon.
I love that scaffolding can be put up within 24 hours outside a building where they hold classes, so that one’s classmate might not realize it’s the same building and wander around for almost 10 minutes trying to figure out where the building went.
I love that dog owners look like their dogs. It’s always good for a laugh.
I love that there are literally a million places to eat in the city.
I love that tanning salons with names like Hollywood Tan actually mean something out here.
And I really love that “California Girls” by the Beach Boys means more out here than in California :) [see? I’m still loyal. Or something...]
