Dave and I ordered from a sushi restaurant for lunch a couple weeks ago, and he tried to teach me an easy way to use chopsticks. I told him that was great, but that I didn't use chopsticks enough for it to matter. He said any food [except soup] can theoretically be chopsticks food. So I said OK, let's have chopsticks week.
So we bought some chopsticks and started chopsticks week the other day. Our first order of business: eat five M&M's with them, as his friends from high school made him do when he was learning.
But you know me, always the overachiever [ha!], so I ate my age in M&M's. It definitely got easier after the first five. And the next day we had orange chicken and rice — much easier than M&M's. I'm thinking about bringing my chopsticks back to my dorm and randomly using them throughout the year. You know, for pasta or pancakes or whatever.
